About · Pallet Solutions
A managed pallet program that published its math.
Pallet Solutions is the category manager for pallets - a managed pallet sourcing company for multi-facility procurement teams. The published intelligence - the cost index, the regional reads, the vendor map - is what fell out of running the program audit-defensibly.
What we actually do
We run pallet programs end-to-end across multi-facility footprints - sourcing, purchase orders, BOLs, PODs, disputes, core pickup, and one consolidated invoice. A procurement team hands off the weekly pallet load; we run it with one accountable contact. Programs are quoted per footprint.
Why we call it a category
Procurement has managed categories for thirty years - indirect spend, MRO, packaging. Pallets never became one, and the reason is plain: a category needs a number, and pallets never had a number anyone could stand behind. Cardboard gets weighed because it has a price and somebody buys it by the ton. A pallet leaves on a bill of lading that says scrap. We screened 59 of the largest retailers in America to check, and not one of them publishes a wood diversion rate. So we put a line on our own bill of lading - the yard writes the count and marks the reason - and the category got a number. We report where the wood went and what caused it. What that number should be is the customer's call, not ours.
Why the math is public
Running programs for large procurement teams means surviving their audits. The way we did that was to make every cost conversation traceable to public federal data - and then we published the method itself. That became PSCI™, a pallet cost-input index built from five federal series: published weights, weekly since 2016 in the historical data, released CC0, so anyone can rebuild it. The full methodology is open - anyone can rebuild any week's number from the raw sources. We charge nothing for any of it: public data is free here, and our business is the programs.
The vendor network
Along the way we mapped 7,210 pallet vendors across the US, Canada, Mexico, and Europe from public business records. Buyers search it free, ranked by distance only - paying never buys a vendor a higher spot. Vendors claim their listing free and control what shows. The wall between the published intelligence and our managed book is structural: the index cites its sources, the map ranks by distance, and managed work is quoted separately.
